{"id":244,"date":"2017-03-02T23:01:39","date_gmt":"2017-03-02T23:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/supportingelement.com\/?p=244"},"modified":"2017-03-02T23:01:39","modified_gmt":"2017-03-02T23:01:39","slug":"peoplesoft-self-service-payments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/supportingelement.com\/index.php\/2017\/03\/02\/peoplesoft-self-service-payments\/","title":{"rendered":"PeopleSoft Self Service Payments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was recently involved in the design and development of a very useful new piece of functionality for PeopleSoft Global Payroll. \u00a0The &#8220;Self Service Payment Add-On&#8221; (SSP) enables employees to submit payment requests directly into PeopleSoft. \u00a0Requests are then routed for a approval before being posted directly to Positive Input or Element Assignment.<\/p>\n<p>SSP is designed as a bolt-on. \u00a0There is no customisation of any delivered PeopleSoft objects, with the exception of integration into the portal navigation.<\/p>\n<p>SSP Payment Codes are linked to Global Payroll Earnings or Deductions and are completely configurable, with many useful features such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Configurable <strong>approval workflow<\/strong> (using the PeopleSoft &#8220;Approval Workflow Engine&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li>Calculation rule settings,\u00a0to control:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Component Overrides<\/strong>. Take for example an Earning with a calculation rule of &#8220;Unit x Rate&#8221;. It is unlikely that you would want a self service user to enter\/override the rate value, which is typically derived from the employees&#8217; hourly rate.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Label Overrides<\/strong>. For example: the &#8220;Units&#8221; component of the calculation rule can configured to display &#8220;Hours&#8221;, making it more meaningful for self service users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Optional or mandatory <strong>attachments<\/strong> to support requests (e.g. receipts, certificates etc&#8230;)<\/li>\n<li>Configurable Payment Code related <strong>information<\/strong>. \u00a0Ideal for communicating policies and procedures related to a request.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fluid interface<\/strong>, making SSP usable on a variety of devices, including tablets and mobile phones.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Privacy settings<\/strong>, to control which Payment Codes may be viewed by managers. There are some payroll transactions that are not<\/li>\n<li><strong>Request Lockout<\/strong>, to prevent requests being entered during pay reconciliation and finalisation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Configuration by Element&#8221; support<\/strong> means any Supporting Element Overrides setup in the &#8220;Configuration by Element&#8221; Component are available to self service users.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eligibility Control<\/strong>.
